Monday 3 February marked the start of Race Equality Week 2025.
This annual, UK-wide movement unites hundreds of thousands of organisations and individuals to address barriers to race equality in the workplace.
This year’s theme, #EveryActionCounts, was chosen by the Race Equality Matters community.
Everyone has a role to play in the fight for racial equality in the workplace. By committing to #EveryActionCounts, we can drive real change.

As part of Lincolnshire County Council's ongoing commitment to being an anti-racist organisation, we offer several initiatives for our colleagues, including Anti-Racist Practice Workshops and Gypsy, Roma, and Traveller Inclusion Sessions.
Ed Clayton, Practice Advisor with Children's Services, and Kim Khajehnoori, Co-Chair of Identify Staff Network (B.A.M.E), delivering an Anti-Racist Practice workshop at Lincolnshire County Council
We are also proud to have signed up to the Social Care Workforce Race Equality Standard, supported by Skills for Care.
Additionally, Lincolnshire County Council’s staff networks, such as our Identify Network (Black, Asian, and Minority Ethnic), support the creation of a safe and diverse workforce, including members from the Global Majority and allies.
My colleague Ed Clayton, a Practice Advisor with Children's Services, and I recorded two podcasts with Matt from the It's All About People Team:
Anti-Racist Practice, Part 1: Ed and I talked to Matt about our experiences, including some difficult local realities faced by Lincolnshire County Council staff. I also talked about my lived experience to provide context as to why this area of work is so important to me, whilst Ed explained how he used his passion in some positive actions. We are both strong advocates that being “not-racist” is not enough to make a difference. Our call to action is for us all to be anti-racist and adopt practices that help achieve that.
Anti-Racist Practice, Part 2: We joined Matt again, and this time brought along tools to develop anti-racist practice within organisations, including Social Graces, the Mandela Model, Social Care RES, and much more. All of these tools are transferable and designed to help you reflect on the inclusivity of your workplace.
