Friday 15 March 2024

You may have read in recent news articles that we have started to identify people within Lincolnshire who are It’s All About People Champions, based on the work they are doing to support and develop personalised and strengths-based approaches across the health and care system.

Over 50 people have have agreed to become It’s All About People Champions, some of which were identified in the first round but also others who have been nominated by colleagues for working in this personalised way, including volunteers and people with lived experience.

On Friday 15 March, we held a virtual launch/welcome event for our Champions.

We had approximately 30 people present at different times throughout the session, which was a fantastic turnout on a Friday lunchtime.

The purpose of the meeting was to explore what the role of a Champion could and should be, but also to work together to consider what support our Champions need to continue to promote the new relationship we are encouraging between people delivering services and people receiving them.

We also provided the Champions with a brief overview of Our Shared Agreement, as well as having some fun with a very competitive quiz all about Lincolnshire.

There was a lot of laughter within this section of the meeting with some people's competitive nature really coming through, but in the end we had our overall winner of the quiz, who was none other than Personalisation Lead Change Manager Kirsteen Redmile; some called this a fix but we assure you that there was no cheating involved!

Once the fun and games were over we split the Champions into small groups and collated information on what support they felt they needed from one another and from the personalisation team.

They groups came up with ideas such as:

  • Provide a space for Champions to stay in touch where they can share good practice and create a support network
  • Online resources, tools and training where required to support Champions to work in a personalised way and answer questions from others

We also discussed how frequently we want to meet as a community of Champions.

This information will now be analysed by the personalisation team and steps put into place to ensure the Champions are supported in their roles as ambassadors for personalised approaches across Lincolnshire's health, care and wellbeing system.

If you want to nominate yourself or someone you know to become an It’s All About People Champion then scan the code in the right hand panel. And don't hesitate to contact alisonx.smith@lincolnshire.gov.uk for more information on how to become an It's All About People Champion.
