In March, we celebrated Social Care Week and as part of that colleagues were encouraged to share a ‘Day in their Life’ by filling in a proforma and returning it or sharing it with their teams.
These were shared in internal communications and posted on the wall within the Quad at County Offices.
Staff really enjoyed completing and sharing their 'Day in a Life' forms.
Please see below an example from Michelle Williams, Deputy Service Manager.
On the Wednesday of Social Care Week, people with lived experience joined council staff and partners for a walk around Lincoln. 30 people attended the two half-hour lunch time walks followed by sharing coffee and cake at County Offices. We were lucky that although it was a rainy day, it stopped when we needed it to, and we all finished the walk and snacks long before the heavy rain hit in the afternoon.
A special thanks to The Quad who provided us with a meeting place before the walks started, cake and coffee afterwards, and the wonderful veg and salad starter growing kits that we could take away to enable us to grow food. People with disabilities who work at the Quad, or attend the local day service, joined people who work in the Council for a fun and supportive event. The Talent and Resourcing Team also joined the walks and have shared some photos on this Facebook post (via SocialCareLincs): (15) Facebook
It was a fantastic week to throw a spotlight on the dedication everyone makes in social care and we were able to say thank you for working towards a shared future vision of transformative change.
Nicki Overton, LP for Hykeham AFLTC Team, shared a little something she did for her team to say thank you (see image above).
Nicki said: “I made these because my team are dedicated superheroes who work hard to achieve the best outcomes for people and so I made these for my team as a thank you.”
The caption says; "I always wondered why somebody doesn't do something about that. Then I realised I was somebody".
Thank you Nicki for sharing, what a wonderful thing to do, a little something can mean a lot and fits perfectly with Foundation 2 of Our Shared Agreement.
