On Wednesday 19 March we celebrated international Social Prescribing Day – and this year managers of Social Prescribing Link Workers (SPLWs) across Lincolnshire decided to say 'thank you' to their teams with some much-needed time out.
Wellbeing events were held across Lincolnshire, providing SPLWs with a well deserved breather and the chance to try out some of the activities they often connect people to.
Emma Farrington, the Wellbeing Team Lead at First Coastal Primary Care Network:
“(It's) a time to reflect on the outcomes achieved with our patients but also to focus on the wellbeing of our team members and celebrate what an amazing team we have”.
The team from First Coastal visited one of their community partners, Black Barn, a therapeutic farm on the edge of the Wolds. It was a day of walks, rural crafts, feeding alpacas, and just enjoying the outdoors and the beautiful Spring sunshine.
Across the county in Fulbeck, Lincolnshire Community & Voluntary Partnership (LCVP) celebrated Social Prescribing Day in the American Barn at Willow Farm.
The venue was kindly offered by Sally and Ollie, who provide Equine Assisted Therapy amongst other activities to promote good mental health.
Activities included a mindfulness session, laughing meditation, line dancing (see image below), and sharing successes, highlights, and people’s achievements from the past year of social prescribing.
Sonia Lewis, Social Prescribing Strategic Lead at LCVP:
“The purpose of the day was to say a big thank you to the team for all their efforts and fabulous work and to take time to reflect on their own health and wellbeing.”
It's well known that in difficult times it can be hard to prioritise our own wellbeing, but the question is - can we really afford not to?
If, as health and care providers, we would like the people of Lincolnshire to take an active role in their own wellbeing, then we also need to lead by example and look after ourselves and our workforce.
The It's All About People Team would love to hear from any other teams working in health, social care and the voluntary / community sector who take time to say ‘thank you’, or actively support team members’ wellbeing in other ways.
Drop us a line to share your ideas and who knows, maybe you could feature in a future It’s All About People blog or podcast!
