A visit to Baytree Garden Centre, Spalding 

A fantastic example of Our Shared Agreement Foundation 5: Making the most of what we have available to us

On 6 December the It's All About People Personalisation Programme Team visited Baytree Garden Centre in Spalding to hear from people and health professionals involved in an innovative partnership programme of health and wellbeing activities. 

The partnership between the public, private and community sector sees the Baytree Garden Centre providing space for activities such as yoga, dementia support, a bereavement group and support for survivors of domestic abuse.  

The groups and activities are facilitated by the Personalised Care Team from South Lincolnshire Rural PCN including Social Prescribing Link Workers and Health and Wellbeing Coaches, in partnership with community sector organisations such as St Barnabas and EDAN Lincs Domestic Abuse Service.

Dr Lucy Rushworth (GP) and Dorota Kowynia-Kaczar (Practice Manager) from Gosberton Medical Centre joined Nigel Wallis, Baytree’s Director to take part in filming a video highlighting the value and impact of this work on people and primary care, as well as other health services. We also heard from Joan Pybus who told us of the life-changing impact social prescribing has had for her as she no longer needs to have spinal surgery.

Jane Coxon, Volunteer Organiser of the local Parkinson's UK group, also shared her experiences of taking part and introducing other people to the activities at Baytree. 

Video clips from the day will be shared more widely over the coming months to help illustrate how the personalised care roles are helping to make the most of what we have available to us.
