Lincolnshire County Council (LCC) has announced the launch of the Waiting Well project, aimed at enhancing support for individuals awaiting social care assessments.
Why Waiting Well?
Waiting for social care assessments can cause anxiety and worry, potentially leading to health deterioration and unplanned hospital admissions. Informal carers, such as family members, may also experience burnout during these periods.
Without proper support mechanisms, there's a risk that people's changing needs won't be met.
The approach in Lincolnshire:
Through Waiting Well, Lincolnshire County Council will build on existing practices to address the negative impacts of waiting times through:
Development of the Waiting Well guidance:
Guidance was co-produced by East Midlands local authorities, partner agencies, and individuals with lived experience.
The 12-month project (August 2023 - August 2024) aims to empower staff, improve the experience of those waiting for assessments, reduce repeated contacts and complaints, and enhance performance in annual surveys and Care Quality Commission assessments.
Guidance has been produced for staff and the public. DOWNLOAD these documents from the side panel above right.
Key Benefits of Waiting Well:
The Waiting Well guidance will be shared with individuals waiting for assessments, changes in care needs, or information on local support options.
